Job description
We are seeking seasonal Forklift Operators to join our harvest team. Forklift Operators play a critical role in keeping our facility moving—transporting bins, staging lots, and supporting our receiving, fumigation, sizing, cracking, and packing operations. This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment requiring skill, attention to detail, and strong teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate propane and electric forklifts to move full and empty walnut bins.
- Equipment: Load, unload, move, stack product and materials using a forklift or other power equipment. Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
- Transport product between warehouses, cold storage, fumigation chambers, and processing lines.
- Perform daily forklift inspections and report any mechanical issues.
- Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
- Receive/Put-Away: Unload inbound shipments safely and move products to storage location. Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate areas.
- Quality: Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality variances.
- Order Picking: Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring that the exact quantity and type of product is loaded and shipped. Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards.
- Loading: Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas to different areas of the facility.
- Inventory: Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained. Assist in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotation.
- Safety, Sanitation, and Security: Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes personnel safety & food safety. Comply with OSHA and SDS standards.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor, manager, director or owner.
Skills/Qualifications:
- 1+ year forklift operating experience (agriculture, warehouse, or manufacturing preferred).
- Ability to operate both propane and electric forklifts.
- Compliant with OSHA & Internal Company Policies
- Ability to work long hours and weekends during harvest season.
- Shipping and Receiving Experience
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, and work in outdoor/warehouse environments.
- Adhere to all food safety, GMP, and workplace safety procedures.
